By default, the Trailforks map updates your blue dot location every few seconds when the app is in the foreground and the phone screen is on. If you navigate to another page in the app, switch to another app, or turn your phone screen off, this auto location updating will stop.
You can change the frequency of your location being updated in your settings, under 'GPS Settings.'
Settings > GPS Settings
From here, you can choose the frequency that your location is updated on the map, and you can also choose the recording minimum distance and point time interval.
Android users: You also have the option to 'Use only the GPS signal' which is a slower option for location updates.
Note: The GPS settings are separate from recording your ride. When recording your ride, your GPS will be fetching locations consistently throughout the ride, and this setting is ignored.
For proper use of the Trailforks app, including updating your location, you will want to make sure your location services are enabled on your phone and that you're not using a power savings mode. If you wish to create privacy zones for your recorded rides, please see this article.
