The Top Rides on Trailforks are suggested routes based on ridelog data from users. We've scanned more than 1 million ridelogs and determined the most ridden routes for each riding area from this data. The most ridden routes are now shown at the top of the "routes" tab for a region.
How to Get to the Top Rides for a Region:
1. If you navigate to a region, you'll see the top rides shown on the page for the region.
2. You'll also see a list of trails in the region below the top rides.
We have a growing database of user created routes, but this new automated system has its benefits. Often routes created by users, whether online or in a guide book, hold creator bias based on their ride preferences. These routes can also become outdated fast. Our generated routes rely on current data and update monthly; because of this real-time data, these routes are the ones people are riding most often.
We've tried to offer some variation of the routes per riding area by showcasing a short, medium and long route. The route generation also relies on unique users, so if one person rides a route multiple times a week, it won't boost the route's ranking.
Here is an example of a region's routes page with the new generated routes at the top.
You can also select a specific trail and view the top generated routes for that trail (example).
Not every region will have these generated routes as there are minimum ridelog thresholds. As a member of the Trailforks community, you can help contribute data by using our ridelog system and recording your ride natively within the app or by connecting a device.
These generated routes will show up on the mobile app; they will be listed first when you view a trail's ridelogs.
