Set-Up & Regions
Why are my regions not showing up on the Trailforks app on my Apple Watch?
As a first step of troubleshooting, log into your Trailforks app on your iOS device and check your downloaded regions. Once you have ensured that your downloaded regions are synced on your iOS device, tap on the Trailforks app on your Apple Watch. You should see your downloaded regions under ‘Map Regions’ under Main Settings.
Are my privacy settings kept from my Trailforks account?
You must set the privacy of your ridelog or activity recorded on the Apple Watch app when saving your activity. Once you set the privacy of your activity (Everyone, Followers Only, or Only Me), that level of privacy should stay the same for the next recording you make on your Apple Watch.
You can also edit the privacy settings of the ridelog on your Trailforks iOS app after your activity has been saved.
Missing Stats
Why am I not seeing my stats show up when I’m recording an activity?
When setting up the Trailforks app on your Apple Watch, you may not have accepted the permissions that enable certain statistics to be calculated when recording an activity. For instance, if you did not accept HealthKit permissions, your heart-rate and calories burned will not be calculated when you’re recording an activity.
For more information on granting permissions, please see here.
Why am I not seeing my heart-rate show up when I’m recording an activity?
If the Trailforks Apple Watch app fails to track or report your heart rate, please try the steps below:
1. Ensure you've enabled Apple Health permissions: Open the Settings app on your phone > Privacy & Security > Health > choose the Trailforks app from the list > Turn All Categories On (or turn off and back on).
2. If that doesn't work, try deleting and reinstalling the Trailforks app from your phone and watch after you have turned all HealthKit permissions on.
IMPORTANT: Before deleting the app, ensure your workouts have synced and can be seen in your workouts list. Workouts not fully synced before deleting the app cannot be recovered.
To check if your activities have been synced:
- Open the Trailforks Apple Watch app > Settings (or the 1st view) > Activity Recordings
If you see any unsynced activities under Activity Recordings, please sync these activities before deleting and reinstalling the app.
Does heart rate factor into my calorie burn?
Only workouts started directly from the Apple Watch will have heart rate factored into the calorie burn information that is reported back.
Measurement Units
If I’ve set my measurement units to imperial (miles/hour), why am I seeing ‘feet’ for distance traveled?
You will see ‘ft’ for distance traveled until you reach approximately 0.1 miles (or ~ 528 ft). After you have completed 0.1 mile, your distance will be measured in miles.
How do I change my measurement units from imperial to metric?
You are able to change your units of measurement under Main Settings > Measurement Units on the Trailforks app on the Apple Watch app.
Recording a Ridelog/Activity
Can I edit my ridelog on the Apple Watch app after I’ve finished recording?
You must edit all ridelogs on your Trailforks iOS app after you’ve saved your activity on the Apple Watch app. Ridelogs cannot be edited on the Apple Watch app.
What if my Apple Watch dies while I’m recording a ridelog or activity?
If your Apple Watch runs out of battery while you are recording a ridelog or activity, your activity will be paused. Once you’ve charged your Apple Watch and you re-open the Trailforks app on the Watch, you should be prompted to either ‘Continue’ or ‘Discard’ the activity.
Note: You may see that the time of the activity did not pause when your Apple Watch died. We recommend starting an activity with full battery life on your Apple Watch.
Why is my ridelog/activity not syncing?
Your ridelog or activity may not be syncing because of an unstable internet or cellular connection. We recommend trying to sync your activities when you are back in an area with a strong connection.
How do I ‘force sync’ my ridelog/activity?
You can ‘force-sync’ all activities by clicking on ‘Sync All’ under unsynced activities in the main settings screen.
Why am I not seeing my ridelog recorded on my Apple Watch on my Trailforks account on the iOS app?
There may be a slight delay in the activity syncing from your Apple Watch to your Trailforks iOS account. If you do not see the activity right away, please ensure that you have refreshed your activities by pulling down on the activities tab.
You can also see if your activity has synced under your Profile ‘Activities’ tab. Refresh this tab by pulling ‘down’ on the screen.
Can I start a recording on my Trailforks iOS app and have it be mirrored to the Trailforks Apple Watch app?
Not at this time. We are working on this feature, but currently, the Trailforks iOS app recording feature is separate from the recording ability on the Trailforks Apple Watch app. If you start a recording on the Trailforks iOS app, AND you start recording on your Trailforks Apple Watch app, you may see dual recordings appear in your Trailforks account.
How do I delete a ridelog/activity recorded on the Trailforks Apple Watch app?
To delete a ridelog/activity recorded on Trailforks Apple Watch app, go to the activity on your ‘Activities’ tab on the Trailforks iOS app. Tap on the activity to pull up the details of the activity, and go to ‘edit’ the activity in the right-hand corner.
From the ‘edit activity’ screen, you can choose to ‘Delete Activity.’ Once the workout syncs to your account, you can delete it from your workout list in the phone app.
Music Settings
How do I listen to music through the Trailforks app on my watch?
You can either download music directly on your watch or you can play music from your iOS device. If you are playing music from your iOS device, you may need to be in cellular or Wi-Fi connection to stream music to the Apple Watch. For more information on playing music on your Apple Watch device, please see this article.
How do I get audio through my headphones instead of the watch speaker?
Bluetooth headphones are required and must be connected directly to your watch.
Inaccurate Distance
Why is the Trailforks Apple Watch app reporting inaccurate distances or failing to report a distance entirely?
You may have your HealthKit permissions toggled off for the Trailforks app:
Open the Settings app directly on your iOS device > Privacy & Security > Health > Trailforks > Turn on Cycling and/or Running/Walking distance.
Will I get a map of my ridelog/activity?
Yes. Location Services must be turned on in order to provide maps of your workout routes.
You can choose to ‘Hide Map’ when saving an activity.
This will hide the map of your activity to external viewers, but you will still be able to see the map of your ridelog/activity when viewing the activity details on the Trailforks app.
How is my distance being tracked?
If you begin the workout directly on your watch, your watch's GPS is responsible for your distance. It’s important that you enable location services, with precise location toggled on, and HealthKit permissions (Cycling Distance, Running/Walking Distance) for accurate distance readings.
