Regional admins have the ability to merge multiple trails using a tool on trailforks.com. By merging trails, all the reports, photos, and videos for the merged trails are transferred to the primary trail of your choice.
Additionally, you can reverse the direction of individual trails so that the GPS track for the trail line lines up with the trail itself; the pink line on the map previews what the merge will look like after completed.
Important: Merging trails is not easily reversible, so take necessary precautions while using this tool. The merged trails are deleted in the database, and a new revision is created on the backend for the new merged primary trail, rendering reverse edits difficult.
How to Merge Multiple Trails
1. As a regional admin, click on the riding area you wish to edit.
2. Click on the 'Admin' tab.
3. Under 'Admin Links' > 'Bulk Data Editing,' select 'Merge Trails.'
4. On the map of the area, you can select the trails that you wish to merge into one another.
Be sure to click on the trails you want to merge in the ORDER they are mapped, from start to finish. You'll be able to see a pink preview of how those trails will be merged.
If you wish to remove a trail from selection, click the trail again.
5. Review the details of the merge carefully.
6. Hit 'Submit.
Note: the functionalities shown in the video may differ slightly from the UX offered in the app and website today. Trailforks has undergone a number of release updates, and if you have kept your Trailforks app up-to-date, you should see a more updated version of many of these functions shown in the video. We have kept the video up on our help center as it still serves to show users the many features that Trailforks offers!
