We offer the ability to add and download offline map layers if you wish to view a map with different layers offline. All the trail GPS tracks, text descriptions, and meta-data are also stored offline in the app.
First, you should ensure that you have downloaded the region you're interested in. Next, you can download an offline map by clicking on the 'layers' icon on the main Trailforks map.
From the layers menu, go to 'Offline Maps' at the bottom of the menu options. If you have saved any previous offline maps, your maps will appear here. If you would like to download an offline map, tap on the green '+' button in the right-hand corner.
Zoom-out on the map until you find the map that you wish to download. Your previous downloaded offline maps will show with a green rectangle around the saved area.
You can name your map as you wish, or if you leave the field blank, the map will be named after the region you're downloaded.
You can customize your map and activity layers by clicking on the 'layers' icon to the right of the name.
Note: adding more layers may slow down the download process.
After customizing the map, tap the check mark on the right-hand upper corner of the app. This will save your map as a download, and you can access your offline maps when you are out-of-service and still wish to see specific layers.
Once your offline map has downloaded, you can tap on the map to:
A. View on map
B. Edit (add or subtract layers, adjust the range, and/or edit the name)
C. Refresh the map (this will re-download the map)
D. Delete the map
Note: The app and navigation is usable offline; if you choose not to download offline maps with specific layers, you can still see your location and trail options in a downloaded region. You just will not see the map layers on your map unless you download an offline map.
