You are able to view another rider’s live location after accepting their push notification to ‘view location.’
Note: If you tap on ‘Not Now,’ you can revisit the notification from the notifications dropdown accessed from the ‘bell’ icon at the top right of the screen.
Tapping on ‘Yes’ will place the user’s profile on your main map screen. You can tap on the user’s profile picture to view more stats about their location and activity.
Center on Map: centers the user on your map if you have been scrolling around the map to see different parts of their ride.
Focus Mode: if multiple users are sharing their location with you, you can choose to ‘focus’ on one rider by tapping on ‘Focus Mode.’
Share: you can share this rider’s live location as a link.
Copy Location: copies the rider’s live location to your clipboard; this can be helpful if your friend has gotten injured and you need to send their location details to a rescue team.
Stop: This will remove the user’s profile from your main map screen, and you can no longer see their live location sharing stats. In order to resume seeing a user’s live location, you will need to revisit the push notification originally sent to you and hit ‘Yes.’
When tapping on the user’s profile, you can also view the following stats:
- The time that the user started sharing their live location with you.
- The distance the user has traveled
- The start time of user’s live location sharing
- The time of the user’s last update (this is determined by when the user has reached another recorded GPS point)
- Their phone’s battery level
- The accuracy with which you can see their location
- Their altitude at the last recorded GPS point
Reminder: the stats shown above calibrate based on the user's recorded GPS points. If you are not seeing any data at first, it may be because the track does not yet have a recorded GPS point.
Visiting Past Shared Live Location Sessions
After a user has stopped sharing their live location, you will be able to revisit the notification and see the location share ending session information. If you receive a pop-up stating ‘Location Share Error,’ this may be because the user did not have enough data points saved in the activity before the user stopped location sharing.
Additionally, if you visit a past shared session for the same user, you will be routed to the most recent shared session details or will receive an error. To gain access to past user details, please ask the user to share their saved recorded activity with you.
